Why do I need the services of a Personal Trainer and how can they help me?

At what time of the day is it best to work out and where can I work out if I do not belong to a health club or a gym?

I still have a membership at my local health club. Can a trainer come to my facility and train me there?

How much does it cost?

I have been working out on my own for over a year now and I have hit a sticking point whereby I don't seem to be able to put any muscle mass on my physique. Can you help me get back on track and moving forward by gaining lean tissue?

After I start working out with you, how long will it be before I will see any results?

Why do I need the services of a personal trainer and how can they help me?

There are many reasons why people hire a personal trainer. For many, it is simply that they need guidance, knowledge and motivation. If you have a toothache you go to the dentist, a qualified professional who knows what he is doing. It should be the same thought process with a fitness professional. You should work with someone who is qualified and competent, someone who can show you how to train safely and effectively and who will help you achieve your fitness goals and keep you on track.

At what time of the day is it best to work out and where can I work out if I do not belong to a health club or a gym?

The best time of the day to work out is whenever you can fit it in to your schedule. Some clients like to work out early, before they go to work, at 6 or 7am. Others prefer to train after work in the evening. Stay at home moms often train in the middle of the day when the children are at school. I am very flexible and try to accommodate my clients' busy schedules. I typically schedule sessions from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday. Some clients prefer to train in the privacy of their own home while some opt for the office or corporate gym.

I train all of my clients at the Twin Oaks Tennis & Fitness Center in Morristown. This is not a commercial gym and clients feel very comfortable and less intimidated by the surroundings.

I still have a membership at my local health club. Can a trainer come to my facility and train me there?

It depends on the club and their policy regarding independent trainers. Most of the larger gyms have their own staff trainers and do not allow any independent trainers to train their members. In other gyms they will charge you a fee (typically ranging from $10-$15) and allow the trainer in as a guest. Others do not mind at all and allow your trainer in for free. You should be able to discuss your gym's policy with the management of your gym.

How much does it cost?

Training rates can vary tremendously from $50 per hour to $150 per hour depending on the location and the quality of the trainer. A top Hollywood trainer might charge $500 per hour. Here in Morris County, I believe in making personal training affordable to the average person on the street. There are various packages to suit every budget and payment plans to make getting in shape an investment worth making. After all, you cannot put a price on your health.

Absolutely!! At some stage in their training program, everyone will hit the dreaded plateau. We all have growth phases and plateaus. That is not to say that there is nothing you can do about it. Some athletes do reach their genetic potential, but there is no such thing as perfection! You can always improve on some aspect of your training, be it fat loss, muscle gain, cardiovascular endurance, or flexibility! Muscles easily adapt to the same workout and weights. I like to mix it up a little, shock the body. I am always looking for new ways to stimulate muscle growth.

After I start working out with you, how long will it be before I will see any results?

That is a very open ended question. It depends on many variables and the laws of individual differences apply. I would love to say that everyone will lose ten pounds of fat and add five pound of lean tissue in six weeks, but while that may be the case for a few, it will not be the case for many. I believe in setting realistic goals that are achievable through proper exercise and nutrition principles.

The saying "you only get out of it what you put into it" is very true. I expect 100% effort from my clients, no matter what age, ability or level. I will personally see that you optimize your chances of improving your overall health, fitness, body composition and athletic performance in whatever sport/past time/endeavor you participate in.
