Steve Tylee:

Steve Tylee

My own journey into health and fitness began in 1981. For my sixteenth birthday, I received a set of plastic coated barbells and dumbbells complete with exercise wall charts. My first gym was my dad's garage. It was freezing cold in the winter and too hot in the summer, but the rent was free.

At sixteen years old and 5'9", I weighed in at a skinny 135 pounds. I suffered from bouts of asthma and I had a weak chest with poor lung capacity. At the time, I thought that if I could just build up my chest and improve my fitness level, it would help with my breathing.

So I set about my task. Something inside me drove me to push myself hard. After several months I began to notice small changes in my physique, and as I grew stronger, my self-esteem and confidence grew in tandem. This inspired me to keep going, setting small but achievable goals each step of the way. The road has been long, but I have stayed true to my cause. Over the years, I have learned that consistency is the key to success. I have made health and fitness part of my lifestyle.

Steve TyleeSome nineteen years after my first workout in my dad's garage, I was standing on the stage of the Mr. Universe competition, competing against the best amateur bodybuilders in the world. I placed third from a line-up of twenty-six athletes. I consider this to be the highlight of my bodybuilding career.

On this journey, I have gained extensive knowledge on human performance, training and nutrition. I want you to benefit from that knowledge and become the best you can be. Working together, we can make it happen.

I have trained professional golfers, club level tennis players, high school and college athletes, corporate CEO's, businessmen, post-natal women, stay at home moms, seniors, arthritis sufferers, law enforcement officers, power lifters and both male and female competitive bodybuilders. I have worked with individuals ranging from age 12 through 81 years old. I have worked with people from all walks of life, each of whom has their own unique set of objectives and fitness goals.

The shot on the right was taken in a gym on a tiny Maldivian Island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Yes I admit it, I do work out when I am on vacation.

DebbieDebbie:

It has been said that "everything you do affects every member of the family." So, how was I to affect my husband and three children in a positive way if I was feeling fatigued and overwhelmed, not to mention really old? As my children became involved in team sports, I decided I could no longer be a spectator on the sidelines... I wanted to be part of the team and I wanted to be in the game.Now, 3 years after starting down this road to fitness, I can say I lost the pounds and sizes but also gained a desire to work with others. I became certified in personal training through the National Endurance Sports Trainers Association in 2005 and my focus is to help other people make a similar change and incorporate fitness and wellbeing into their lifestyle! So wherever you find your motivation-tap into it-and commit to change today!

JonJon:

Playing Varsity hockey throughout my four years of high school, as well as six years of travel hockey with the NJ Colonials, enhanced my understanding of the importance of hard work, perseverance and physical conditioning. I started training with Steve Tylee during my sophomore year of high school and saw a dramatic increase in my level of play.

After being named to All Conference and All County teams, as well as being team captain, I became very interested in Personal Fitness as well as the importance of training specifically for hockey.

It was with the assistance of Steve Tylee that I became a certified personal trainer through AFFA, the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.

The knowledge and skills learned while working with Steve and his team of trainers has given me the confidence work with clients of all ages and backgrounds to deliver training programs that are both effective and highly successful.
